Peter Mthoni

It is with great sorrow and grief that we inform you that sweet Peter Muthethia Muthoni has been called home to our Lord. He was 11 years old.

Peter suffered from Aids and its related complications. In recent weeks he had been in and out of the hospital. His latest hospitalization was December 17 at the Chuka General Hospital. He did not respond well to treatment and was unable to hold down food or medicine. This left him very weak. Since he could not be left alone Mama Phelistus, Mama Ellijoy, and Aunt Pauline had taken turns staying with him.

‘For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing’.
2 Timothy 4:6-8

At 6:30pm December 18, 2017, Peter finished his race.

Peter leaves behind his brothers and sisters, the Kenya Connection Kids board and staff, and Ralph and Annice Yeary (his sponsors).

Our hearts go out to all of you there in Kenya, Peter’s ‘family’. Praying you will find comfort in knowing that what you did for Peter during his short life was a gift that God provided and prepared him for meeting his Lord and Savior. May God give you peace during this time of sorrow, and may you find the ‘light’ that God has provided through the baby that brought it to us.

Much love to all of you there,
    Earl and Pam Scholtens
