The Joy of the Lord

“Have this attitude in yourself which was also in Christ Jesus“ (Philippians 2:50)

“If you keep my commandments you will abide in my love just as I have kept my father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”(John 15:10-11)

What is Enthusiasm? The root of this word in Greek – entheou – means full of God, or God within. Christians should be the most enthusiastic people in the world. When you smile to somebody, it is a proof that you are happy. One has to make a decision of being enthusiastic. It is a deliberate decision that one makes. Sprouting joy and happiness improves ones personality and people’s opinion of you. The word of God tells us that we need to have the attitude, the joy and the happiness that was in Christ. Many times we are faced with challenges; the bigger the challenge the bigger the enthusiasm to face it. Our attitude tells others what we expect in return. As enthusiasm increases, stress and fear decreases. I have realized that when I am doing a certain task and I am enthusiastic, joyous and happy, it comes out well and the chances of success are more. Someone said that enthusiasm inspires action. There is no positive accomplishment that has ever been made without enthusiasm

In KCK Ministry we work with children who have been traumatized. Many are destitute, others orphaned and others are sick. We encourage the mothers and all the KCK team members let our life sprout enthusiasm. It is our desire and purpose to show a positive attitude and the joy that comes from God as we serve God among these children. Enthusiasm, joy and happiness that comes from the Lord are our trademarks and bridge.

Let us always keep a warm spirit. Do not let the spirit of serving the Lord sag or collapse. It does not matter your circumstance at the moment; predicaments, setbacks, obstacles may come, but once you do not let your spirit sag or collapse your come back is very possible. We encourage our children and all who work with us to keep a high spirit. You cannot break or bring down a man or a woman whose spirit is high. Let us not let our spiritual trust and hope in the Lord collapse or get cold. Let us always warm ourselves by daily bible reading, prayer and meditation on the word of the Lord.

It is the Lord who gives the strength to face each day. As you meditate on the Lord and reflect upon your life, it might be necessary to overhaul your thought pattern if need be and allow the spirit, the joy and enthusiasm that comes from God be in you. All that is given by the Lord as we grow in him.

We habitually become what we imagine ourselves as being. “As a man thinketh so is he” let us create and start imaging or picturing in our minds what we would want to be and become. We are deliberate in KCK to encourage the children under our care to start forming the right images and pictures of what they would want to become in life. It is so encouraging to hear them say “when I grow up I would want to be a pilot, a teacher. a pastor ,a doctor, a lecturer  and the list is endless”.

You are a product of what you picture yourself to be. If is very important to have a very clear picture or image of what you would want to be and do with your life. Once you practice failure, negativism that is what you will get. Let us take hold of enthusiasm and the joy that comes from God in all areas of our lives. When I committed my life to the Lord at an age of 13years I had a daily 15 minutes bible reading, meditation, reflection and prayer. That discipline has transformed my life totally. It is a discipline that worked for me as a youth and it still works for me at middle age.
